PURPLE is a new transfection agent for siRNA delivery based on lipid-coated iron oxide nanoparticles. These particles consist of solid iron oxide cores that are enveloped with a specific cationic lipid formulation to facilitate siRNA binding and cellular uptake. This unique technology reduces cell toxicity, in part, by using small amounts of siRNA to help counter off-target effects. When using PURPLE, effective gene silencing is reached in a wide range of cell lines including suspension cells, mesenchymal stem cells as well as adherent cell lines.
Very fast and very efficient
PURPLE is easy to use. Simply mix particles and siRNA, incubate 15-20 min at room temperature and then add to cells. Next incubate the cells for 8-48 hrs and then analyze knockdown effect. Not only is the protocol simple, PURPLE can provide ultra-high efficiencies, and in a fraction of the time of standard transfection methodologies. And did we mention that PURPLE also provides an economical solution for higher density plate types?
