Historically there have been only two options for reverse transcriptases, those derived from MMLV (Moloney Murine Leukemia Virus) and those from AMV (Avian Myeloblastosis Virus). Both options, and their variants, offer advantages such as stability, high temperature activity, long-stranded cDNA synthesis. However, neither combine the strengths of both classes, while minimizing the drawbacks. The new RevoScript Reverse Transcriptase has changed that! Isolated from the avian reticuloendotheliosis retrovirus, it shows similarities to both avian RTs (high temperature processivity) and mammalian C-type RTs (monomeric stability). Revoscript provides tolerance toward typical inhibitory compounds and incredible half-life activity at high temperatures. For example, RevoScript has a half-life of 70 minutes at 60°C when RNA secondary structure needs to be eliminated. These kits are specifically designed for efficient, high-yield synthesis of full-length cDNAs from total and poly(A)+ RNA samples. With a broad window of optimization, RevoScript is both sensitive and robust (0.3 pg to 4 ug of total RNA) and routinely generates cDNA sizes between <100 bp to >9 kb. All kits are provided in a ready-to-use single tube format that is vacuum packed and lyophilized for shelf life longevity and compatibility with high throughput processes. Freeze-dried is not just for peas
Storage and ease of use are two often overlooked factors when working with reagents for molecular biology. When all other things are equal, it's nice to know that your reagents can be just as effective on day 720 as on day 1. And better yet, kits designed for minimum pipeting is just a smarter approach. iNtRON has applied an elegant solution to these challenges. A proprietary freeze-dried technique utilized in most of their molecular biology kits stabilizes the entire master mix at the bottom of 0.2 ml PCR tubes. Then each strip of tubes is individually vacuum sealed to guarantee that no water infiltration can spoil the master mix over time. Simply add sample (and/or primers) and your experiments are off to the races. Eliminating preparation of master mixes and other components frees up time and reduces errors.
