YELLOW is a transfection agent based on superparamagnetic nanoparticles with an iron oxide core. The particle surface is specifically coated with cationic lipids to promote non-covalent binding of DNA and facilitate effective transport of the resulting complex into cells. YELLOW is formulated to achieve consistently high transfection rates with markedly reduced toxicity. Successful transfection of both adherent cells, such as HEK293, as well as more difficult-to-transfect suspension cells, such as Jurkat and K562, is easily achieved. Simple to use – easy to detect
The YELLOW protocol is a snap – just mix particles and DNA, incubate 10-20 min and add to cells. Then incubate the cells 24-48 hrs for full effect. Not only is the protocol simple, and results in high efficiency transfections, the superparamagnetic nanoparticles offer the possibility of combined delivery and imaging. That is because these particles can be seen with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). When cells are transfected with YELLOW or PURPLE NIMT® reagents they become magnetically labeled and can be tracked with MRI.
