Bulldog Bio and Etaluma donate lab equipment to BioBus

Cell Motion BioBus, a not-for-profit organization with a mission to bring hands-on science education, in an authentic research lab setting, to schools nationwide, has accepted a donation of equipment from Bulldog Bio.  Among the laboratory equipment provided is the LumaScope Inverted Fluorescence Microscope – specifically designed by Etaluma as an affordable alternative for teaching labs.

Sarah Weisberg, a BioBus staff scientist, said in reference to the portability of the LumaScope system “We are very excited by the opportunity to offer our students access to a fluorescence microscope” and in reference to the 40x model “we are envisioning using this microscope primarily to study organelles inside of fixed cells”.

The Cell Motion BioBus is a carbon-neutral science laboratory on wheels. Powered by solar panels, a wind turbine, and a biofuel engine, the BioBus brings science to over 20,000 students per year and helps them explore the world around them in an inquiry-based, hands-on setting filled with state-of-the-art science equipment and supervised by Ph.D. level scientists. Specifically, the BioBus focuses its efforts on schools that lack quality laboratory facilities and where students are unlikely to ever have met a scientist. To learn more, visit www.biobus.org
